This rare silk spencer from the Empire period, dating to ca. 1805 and originating from France, is an exquisite example of early 19th‑century Neoclassical fashion. Designed to be worn over dresses with a high‑set Empire waistline, this short jacket features a delicate lilac‑toned silk in beautifully preserved condition.

The spencer is constructed with puffed sleeves, lined on the inside with fine gauze fabric, giving them their characteristic volume. The front closes with bust lacing, while the U‑shaped neckline, sleeve edges, and bustline are finished with contrasting decorative borders, adding visual refinement typical of the Napoleonic era. The interior is lined with cotton, ensuring structure and comfort.

Entirely hand‑sewn with excellent craftsmanship, the garment remains in very good condition, showing only a discreet stain in the chest area—remarkably minimal for a textile of this age. Decorative accessories (including the bodice) are not included.

With a bust measurement of approx. 80 cm, this piece is a highly desirable addition for collectors of Empire‑period clothing, antique French textiles, and museum‑quality early 19th‑century fashion.
